Marija Nikolić was born in 1976 in Belgrade, where she completed her primary and secondary education.
She obtained her undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, at the Department of Agroeconomics in 2001. She defended her master's thesis titled "Evolution of cooperative legislation in Europe in the second half of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century" in 2009 at the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade.
In the same faculty, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled "Application of cooperative values and principles and their impact on the operations of agricultural cooperatives in Serbia," earning the title of Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences, field of agroeconomics.
After that, in 2018, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Niš, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled "Application of cooperative values and principles and their impact on the operations of agricultural cooperatives in Serbia," earning the title of Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences, field of agroeconomics.
From 2005 to 2006, she worked at the Institute of Agricultural Economics in Belgrade, after which she moved to the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade.
At the Department of Agricultural Economics, Market, and Rural Development, she was first appointed as a teaching associate, then as an assistant, and in 2015, she was appointed as an associate professor.
She completed two study visits, both in the People's Republic of China, in 2006 and 2016. Additionally, she finished two e-learning courses organized by the World Bank Institute in 2007 and 2008.
Since her appointment as an assistant professor in 2015, she has been a member of committees for the defense of three master's theses and about 50 graduate theses. She is actively improving her pedagogical skills.
Having participated in and successfully completed two training sessions on active learning methods, a training for teaching in English (2019), and two training sessions on learning, teaching, and educational activities (2022 and 2023).
2023). In 2022, she received recognition from the Faculty of Agriculture for the best scientific research in the field of agroeconomics.
In her academic career, she has independently authored or co-authored over 70 scientific papers.
She speaks English and is learning Spanish. She is married and has one child. She lives in Zemun.
