INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE "CURRENT SOCIO-ECONOMIC CHALLENGES OF COUNTRY DEVELOPMENT IN CONTEMPORARY CONDITIONS," NOVEMBER 9-10, KOSOVSKA MITROVICA
Organized by the Faculty of Economics in Priština with a temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica, the International Scientific Conference on the topic "Current Socio-Economic Challenges of Country Development in Contemporary Conditions" took place on November 9th and 10th, 2023.
The conference featured 44 papers presented by authors from seven countries: Portugal, Turkey, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Serbia. The speakers included Prof. Dr. Tanja Vujović, the dean of the Faculty of Economics; Prof. Dr. Nebojša Arsić, the rector of the University of Priština; Ivan Zaporožac, the president of the Provisional Authority of Kosovska Mitrovica; and Prof. Dr. Vesna Petrović, the dean of the Faculty of Business Economics in Bijeljina. Prof. Dr. Tanja Vujović emphasized that the papers covered various topics beyond the economic sphere, including migrations, labor force mobility, human capital, and other issues related to the conflicts in Ukraine.
Prof. Dr. Tatjana Brankov, the president of DAES, delivered the introductory presentation on the topic "Effects of the Conflict in Ukraine on the Agricultural Sector of the Republic of Serbia" and assessed that the conference was held at a high level, similar or even higher than those organized at elite faculties in the Republic of Serbia (excluding the territory of Kosovo and Metohija).
As part of the tour of cultural and historical landmarks in Kosovo and Metohija, the participants of the conference visited the Patriarchate of Peć, where they attended the liturgy led by Bishop of Raška- Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija, Mr. Teodosije, the Visoki Dečani Monastery, and the Zočište Monastery.
