Assessment of Environmental Care and Ecological Challenges

On World Environment Day, at the 'Radulovački' Ecological Center in Sremski Karlovci, awards were presented for the 'Green and Black List' as part of the most significant environmental initiative in Serbia, titled 'We Are Searching for the Polluter of the Year and Environmental Protectors.' The initiative was launched forty years ago by Radio Belgrade 2 and the Society for Clean Air in Serbia. For the fourteenth consecutive year, Radio Belgrade 2 and the Movement of Gorans of Vojvodina have been organizing this campaign.

Awards for Environmental Care and Scientific Achievements

The 'Green Leaf' is rightfully awarded to prominent individuals and organizations that stand out in environmental care and conservation. Among the awardees are Prof. Dr. Branko Mišić, for his outstanding contribution to the 'Endless Love for Nature' campaign; Prof. Dr. Tatjana Brankov, for scientific work in the field of healthy food and the project 'Kragujevac Without GMO'; Prof. Dr. Vladimir Đurđević, for scientific research in the domain of climate change and environmental protection; Momčilo Antonijević, for an outstanding ecological program 'Biljarnica'; Andrej Josifovski, for an artistic approach to popularizing environmental protection; the Association of Toxicologists of Serbia, for the project 'Informed Mom, Healthy Baby'; the Free School 'Pioneer', for an exceptional ecological action 'Fix and Replace'; the residents of the village Dadince, for dedication to ecological activities in preserving the cleanliness of the Rupska River. Recognitions were also received by the Association 'Gočki krug,' for long-term ecological activities in Vrnjačka Banja and on Mount Goč; the Association 'White Heron,' for a prominent role in preserving biodiversity at Lake 'Reva'; the Ecological Movement EKOP, for contributing to environmental protection in the municipality of Kovačica, as well as the Association Eco-Patrol Sremčica, for selfless efforts in saving the 'Rakina Bara' lake.

Special Awards for Nature Conservation and Volunteer Work

In addition, the Goran Movement Pirot was commended for its long-standing efforts in afforestation, education, and environmental protection. The Alliance of Participants in Youth Work Actions SORAS received a special acknowledgment for years of volunteer work in environmental conservation. On the other hand, the 'Black List' was awarded to those who did not meet expectations in environmental protection. This time, the Serbian Railways Company 'Železnice Srbije' sadly found itself on the list for failing to take measures to remediate deteriorating railways, exposing Serbian citizens to serious risks of chemical incidents. Additionally, the company 'Henkel' was awarded the 'Black Leaf' for providing energy passports that showed higher building efficiency than it actually was, deceiving customers and enabling investors to increase profits.
